Suzuki’s background
Suzuki Loom Firm was a tiny company that manufactured looms during the turn of the twentieth century. During WWII, it was on the verge of ceasing operations. Production continued thereafter, but only until the cotton industry failed in the 1950s. Suzuki retrained to make engines, and then other motorbike types.
The strategy piqued the Japanese government’s interest, and they began to push the creation of business subsidies. A bicycle with a 36 cm3 engine was the first Suzuki to leave the production line.
